Where did the name Mystic & Cortex Salon come from?

I wanted something unique that didn't scream hair salon. The name 'Mystic & Cortex' was chosen to reflect the artistic and scientific aspects of hairstyling. 'Mystic' represents the creativity and  magic we bring to your hair, while 'Cortex' refers to the core of the hair strand, which is the important one emphasizing our understanding of hair health and structure. 

How often should I get highlights?

The frequency of highlights depends on your desired look and hair growth. For a subtle grow-out, every 8-12 weeks is common. For a more maintained or bolder look, you might consider touch-ups every 4-6 weeks. We can assess your hair and discuss your goals during a consultation.

How do I maintain color between appointments?

To maintain your color, we recommend using color-safe shampoos and conditioners, limiting heat styling, and using a good heat protectant when you do. Deep conditioning treatments can also help keep your color vibrant and your hair healthy.

What should I book if I am unsure about the service I need?

If you're unsure which service to book, we recommend scheduling a complimentary consultation. This allows you to discuss your hair goals  where we can then recommend the most appropriate service and provide a personalized quote.

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

We require at least 48 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling of appointments. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a fee. 

Are blow dries included in all services?

Blow dries are included with our cutting services. However, for color services or if you're only looking for a blow dry, please check the service description when booking. Some services may be priced without a finishing blow dry.

Do you accept multiple payment methods? 

We accept all major credit cards and debit cards, cash, and Venmo.

Any service investment adjustments required by your chosen payment method are the client’s responsibility.

Booking & Appointments

How to Book: Appointments can be scheduled online or by phone. Online booking ensures you get your preferred time.

We welcome clients of all identities and provide a safe, respectful environment for everyone.

Plan Ahead: Specialty services like dematting and color corrections require longer sessions, so we recommend booking 2–4 weeks in advance.

Consultations: For new clients or complex hair conditions, we may schedule a short consultation before the full appointment to assess hair health and recommend the best service.

Service Preparation: Please arrive with clean, untangled hair if possible. Avoid heavy styling products that may interfere with chemical services.

Time Considerations: Each service is carefully timed. Arriving late may shorten your session or affect results; specialty services may require rescheduling if time is insufficient.

Confirmations & Reminders: You will receive an appointment confirmation and reminder via email or text. Please review details to ensure accuracy.

Not responsible for damaged, lost or stolen items.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

24–48 hours notice required.

Late cancellations may be charged; no-shows may be charged full service price.

Late Arrivals

Arriving late may shorten your session to respect other clients’ appointments.

For specialty services like dematting or fine hair treatments, arriving more than 15 minutes late may require rescheduling to ensure we have enough time for a safe and thorough service.

Please plan accordingly to get the best results from your appointment.

Deposits & Payments

Some services require a deposit to secure your spot.

Payments accepted: cards , Venmo, cash.

Children & Guests

ALL Children welcome under supervision.

Limit extra guests to ensure space & a calm experience.

Hair Condition & Safety

Hair is evaluated before service.

Severe matting may need multiple sessions for healthy results.
